Draft for IPROTAX review.

Business draft. This document is a working draft prepared for IPROTAX and requires final review and approval by IPROTAX before public launch. It is not legal advice.

Who must pay a deposit

New clients and returning clients who did not use IPROTAX for the immediately preceding tax year must pay a nonrefundable deposit before services begin. The deposit is $100 for an individual tax return and $250 for a business tax return. If you miss filing with IPROTAX for one tax year, the applicable deposit will be required when you return.

The deposit is applied toward the applicable tax-preparation fee. It is nonrefundable and does not guarantee a refund, filing outcome, completion date, or acceptance of a tax return by any taxing authority.

Individual tax client deposit — $100

The $100 individual deposit is required for every new individual tax-return client and any returning individual client who did not use IPROTAX for the immediately preceding tax year.

Business tax client deposit — $250

The $250 business deposit is required for every new business tax-return client and any returning business client who did not use IPROTAX for the immediately preceding tax year.

Which deposit applies

A sole proprietor whose business activity is reported on Schedule C of Form 1040 remains an individual tax-return client and pays the $100 deposit. A separately filed business return—including Forms 1065, 1120, or 1120-S—requires the $250 business deposit.

If you need both an individual return and a separate business return, do not pay both deposits through the website. Contact IPROTAX so the correct deposit can be confirmed.

Nonrefundable

Both deposits are nonrefundable. A deposit compensates IPROTAX for the professional time spent reviewing your submission, requesting missing items, and beginning preparation, even if you later decide not to file with IPROTAX.

How each deposit is applied

The deposit is applied toward the applicable tax-preparation fee. It is nonrefundable and does not guarantee a refund, filing outcome, completion date, or acceptance of a tax return by any taxing authority. A deposit payment is not the complete tax-preparation fee. Total fees depend on the forms and schedules your return requires, and IPROTAX will inform you of the applicable fee before completing your return. The remaining balance is due as arranged with IPROTAX.

What a deposit payment does not mean

Payment of a deposit does not establish any of the following:

  • That IPROTAX has received every required document.
  • That your tax return has been completed or filed.
  • Any guarantee of a refund, credit, result, processing time, or acceptance by a taxing authority.

Frequently asked questions

What if I used another preparer for one tax year? If IPROTAX did not prepare your return for the immediately preceding tax year, the applicable deposit is required when you return.

Is Schedule C a business deposit? No. Business activity reported on Schedule C of Form 1040 remains an individual tax return and uses the $100 deposit.

What if I need both return types? Contact IPROTAX before paying so the correct deposit can be confirmed; do not automatically pay both deposits online.

Payment method

Deposits are paid through IPROTAX’s PayKah payment service using Stripe-hosted checkout. This website does not collect or store payment-card information. A completed payment page is not by itself confirmation of payment: IPROTAX separately verifies each deposit with PayKah before completing preparation. Questions about a deposit may be sent to support@iprotax.com.

How deposit payment works

  1. Choose the correct individual or business deposit.
  2. Pay securely through PayKah.
  3. Save the PayKah payment receipt.
  4. Begin or continue the tax intake through CrossLink TaxPass.
  5. IPROTAX separately verifies the deposit before completing preparation.

Deposit payments are processed through IPROTAX’s PayKah payment service using Stripe-hosted checkout. IPROTAX’s website does not collect or store your payment-card information.

Paying a deposit does not mean your tax return has been completed or filed. Please save your payment receipt and complete your tax intake through CrossLink TaxPass. A completed payment page does not by itself confirm payment: IPROTAX verifies every deposit with PayKah before completing preparation.
